Purolite, an Ecolab Company is seeking a First Chemical Operator-Regen who coordinates activities in the regeneration area relating to operations which include Regeneration, Microlite, Waste Tanks, Polishers, Grinding, TOC Systems and Processes including Screening and Drying.

* The First Equipment Operator-Regen will always be safety conscious for self and others with ability to initiate tasks and work in an independent manner. *

Position Details:


Philadelphia Plant location:3620 G Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
Work week and shift: Rotating twelve-hour shifts days, nights, and weekends.

What You Will Do:

  • Effectively operates polishers.

  • Maintains effective operation of the Low TOC area.

  • Operates three units (LC, M-Regen and CY-4) in series and separately, as well as the extraction unit and scavenger.

  • Operates the Separator, Separation of Mixbed Resins.

  • Performs small unit (Cation and Anion) and V-Mixer operations.

  • Charges all units.

  • Neutralizes waste tanks in Regen.

  • Performs effective operation of Grinder, Microlite tanks and centrifuge.

  • Instructs Second Equipment Operator of his duties and ensures they are completed.

  • Writes paperwork as necessary and ensures the accuracy of paperwork before submission to supervisor.

  • Operates a sewing machine and heat sealer.

  • Operates the ferrix system, keks and drying.

  • Reports unusual occurrences relating to processes and equipment to Regen supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Previous mechanical skills are required.

  • Ability to communicate with visitors, professional and plant personnel.

  • Computer knowledge with basic mathematic and writing skills.

  • A licensed forklift operatoris preferred.

Contacts and Relationships:

Interfaces with other department personnel in the corporate office, administration and plant locations as necessary

Requires good communication, interpersonal skills and interacts well with external customers, visitors, employees and management in other departments

Working Conditions:

Position operates in an environment in which there may be temperature extremes and exposure to weather, excessive noise and vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, hazardous chemicals, gases, odors, hot liquids or equipment. May work in high, low or confined spaces.

Physical Demands:

Physical requirements: Requires ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, up to and including sixteen hours; walk, bend, reach, grasp, handle, push, pull, twist, kneel, squat, carry and lift uneven loads. Lift floor to waist, lift waist level and above, including overhead, up to and including 60 lbs. Contact stress on body from tools, machines or equipment. Climb step stools, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Ability to roll drums on and off of pallets potentially up to and including 500 lbs.

Visual requirements: Requires ability to use tools, machinery or lab equipment, including viewing computer screens, write and review documentation. Close visual acuity in order to perform mechanical or skilled trade tasks; inspect parts and machinery; fabricate or assemble parts. Ability to operate light and heavy equipment, motor vehicles.

Close visual acuity in order to read small print, analyze data, transcribe, determine the accuracy, neatness or thoroughness of assigned work or work area.

Hearing requirements: Talk and/or hear normal audible sounds including the spoken word and sounds over the telephone. Understand and convey spoken instructions accurately, softly, loudly or quickly, frequently in a noisy environment.

Mental requirements: Ability to comprehend complex information or instructions, interpret and convey information in a written or oral format.

Emotional demands: Ability and willingness to deal with high stress fast paced situations and make accurate and quick decisions.

Equipment use: Extensive computer use, frequent use of lab equipment, forklift, and other machinery and tools
