S&ME is looking for a motivated Project Manager passionate about making a positive impact on the environment to join our Environmental team in Charleston, South Carolina. As an Environmental Project Manager, you will perform and manage technical environmental projects supported by a dedicated team for a diverse client base of manufacturing, education, municipal, retail, and developer projects. As well as, coordinate and perform field oversight of drilling operations, perform field sampling, classify soils, coordinate laboratory testing, and author proposals/reports/deliverables This position includes a mix of both field and office work associated with environmental assessments. You have experience with traditional environmental services such as site characterizations, hydrogeologic studies, brownfield redevelopment, and technical and compliance support for soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil vapor assessments.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Lead projects from start to finish managing client communication, proposals, field operations, and financials.
  • Execute detailed field investigations for projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive permit applications, work plans, and environmental reports.
  • Mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, and actively engage in professional industry organizations.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of environmental consulting experience
  • At least 1 year of proven work experience as a project manager; monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget, communicating with clients, oversight project execution, invoicing, budget tracking, and change order/modification requests
  • A Professional registration in South Carolina
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and representatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Willingness to travel out of town, including overnight, for project work as necessary
