Job Description:

The Director Artificial Intelligence Delivery serves as an experienced People Leader that drives business value through the Artificial Intelligence Delivery & Operations Team and spearheads the execution of the Company's overall artificial intelligence design and delivery strategy. This role is responsible for leading the work initiatives and performance of Leaders and their multi-disciplinary Teams of data science, machine learning, generative AI, and automation practitioners dedicated to developing and deploying innovative automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization products to support Internal and External Customers. The Director Artificial Intelligence Deliveryr is a detail-oriented thinker, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest's artificial intelligence strategy.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week.The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Guide Leaders of multiple high-performing teams responsible for delivering multiple, highly complex automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization products in a timely, efficient manner with high quality by establishing and maintaining best practices that enable your team to understand contextual problems quickly and define, analyze, and deliver innovative solutions that address business needs and support the company's strategic priorities
  • Develop and effectively communicate a team vision for artificial intelligence aligned to the overall AI vision, guide leaders to establish long-term and near-term plans as part of a roadmap necessary to meet the vision, and align talent across multiple teams to execute the plan
  • Drive continuous improvement of artificial intelligence programs by incorporating new ideas and processes to increase efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster relationships with key executives, business leaders, internal customers, and serve as a subject matter expert on opportunities across the enterprise that may be addressed through automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization
  • Maintain awareness of business needs, industry trends, and field advancements that may impact the future of automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization at Southwest and validate the team(s) portfolio of products are aligned to meet those future needs, trends, and advancements
  • Recruit, develop, and retain individuals with the skills, attitude, and experience necessary to achieve goals/commitments as part of a high-performing, cohesive team
  • Recognize achievements and advocate for career growth of leaders to build a bench using mentorship, stretch opportunities, and training plans via a skills-based learning plan
  • Create an environment where debate, dialogue and diversity of thought are encouraged, expected, and welcomed to foster high morale, integrity, trust and teamwork.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of situational and strengths-based leadership to provide continuous coaching to unveil areas of opportunity for leaders in order improve team performance and hold team accountable
  • Expert knowledge of automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization product development methodologies, platforms, and tools
  • Skilled in leading leaders of multiple teams to develop multiple, highly complex automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization products in a timely, efficient manner; delegating authority for decision-making when needed, but sharing accountability when delegating
  • Skilled in developing strong working relationships across all levels of the company including employees, customers, leadership, and executives, and communicate effectively to that network in a clear and concise way
  • Ability to develop capability vision, strategy, and roadmaps, including driving and managing change
  • Ability to solve ambiguous and complex problems through a systems thinking approach
  • Ability to anticipate changing circumstances, unexpected constraints, or challenges and develop ideas, processes, and approaches through creative problem solving to meet those simple to complex challenges, recognizing the interdependencies of other teams, functional areas, and departments across the enterprise
  • Ability to identify and articulate important tends and opportunities for the enterprise to be addressed by automation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and optimization; mentor leaders to translate those trends and opportunities into objectives, well-defined plans, priorities, and assignments for their teams; and guide the prioritization of key elements of the plan, validating that work is moving at the correct pace and with appropriate risk.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent formal training

Experience
  • Preferred: Experience in Power Automate, Anthropic, SQL, Python, Kanban Agile delivery processes such as Jira Align, AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, Claude 2, and Opus 3.
  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Advanced level Business Acumen in functional area
  • Seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Data analysis, advanced analytics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and automation project experience
    • Data pipeline, data science and/or relevant programming
    • Data procurement and integration methodologies, platforms, and tools
    • Visualization and presentation development and delivery

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $192,350 per year to $213,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
