Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides patient care transportation which meet the personal needs, comfort measures and high-quality care for patients undergoing orthopaedic care through-out the Surgical Center (Center). Implements measures focused on patients while assisting members of the health care team. Assists with maintaining appropriate levels of supply for utilization with patient care.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
1. Provides for transportation patients during Orthopaedic Care in the Ambulatory Surgery Setting
2. Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials during transporting patients
3. Maintains patient stability during all transfers
4. Assures that cleaning activities are on-going, thereby consistently maintaining patient care flow for the Center and decreasing potential contamination
5. Utilizes equipment within the Center to ensure safe patient outcomes. Follows accepted recommended guidelines for moving and transfer process for patients
6. Assists staff in lifting, positioning, transferring for the sedated/post-anesthesia patients within the Center
7. Assists in monitoring patients within the Center for positioning safety-related issues, takes action (as limited by scope of education) and notifies the RN/Coordinator/Manager of any concerns
8. Performs inventory/re-stock of patient care areas throughout shift to ensure availability of needed patient care items.
9. Maintains professional standards
10. Adheres to Center policies and procedures; federal, state, local requirements
11. Regular and predictable attendance
12. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.


Experience: Orthopaedic patient care experience is preferred. Patient Care Assistant experience preferred.


Computer Skills: Basic computer skills preferred.


Certifications & Licenses: Current BLS required and must be maintained.
