Job Description

This is an entry-level Process Engineer or Technician position in the Thin Films group at Skyworks in Woburn, MA.

This Sustaining Process Engineer/Technician will be working in the Process Engineering Group at Skyworks in Woburn, MA, to support and develop wafer fabrication processes that produce RF and mobile communication devices including HBT, BiFET, pHEMT, BiHEMT, and GaN at various performance nodes.

Primary Responsibilities

The Process Engineering group at Skyworks in Woburn, Massachusetts is responsible for developing and supporting all wafer fabrication processes used to produce Skyworks' diverse portfolio of products.

This Process Engineer/Technician position supports daily production to ensure on-time-delivery of top quality product. Performs investigations and analyses to disposition potentially non-compliant material. Performs set ups of production equipment and provides guidance to production operators when engineering support is required. Maintains trend and control charts to highlight out of control processes. Sets up and performs experiments for Process Engineering. Provides general technical assistance to the Engineering and Manufacturing organizations.

This is a 12-hour shift position, covering 6am-6pm.

Qualifications
  • At minimum, an Associate degree in a technical discipline (preferably related to micro-electronics) or equivalent experience with course work in electronics, chemistry, physics, statistics and material properties. A Bachelor degree preferred in chemical engineering, material science, physics, chemistry, or related discipline.
  • 3- 6 years of experience in micro-electronics for Associate degree. 0-1 year of experience for Bachelor.
  • Ideal candidate will have expertise/knowledge primarily in Thin Films, and to a lesser degree expertise/knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines: Photo, Etch & Cleans and Final Process.
  • Proficient with the following: QSI (or similar documentation system), Promis (or similar MES), Microsoft Office & Outlook, camLine (or similar SPC software).
  • Basic data analysis skills. Experience applying structured problem-solving methods and knowledge of SPC and FMEA.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills at system, process, and equipment levels.
  • Detail oriented and very organized.
  • Desire to learn and grow in his/her role.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a diverse team including engineers, technicians, operators, and quality controls, across various shifts.
  • Ability to handle time sensitive projects and act with strong sense of urgency in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment on night and weekend.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$61,600 -$111,900per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
