Job Description
The Registered Dietitian provides expertise in food service, administers the Food Service Departments nutritional software, and provides education and marketing to staff, patients, and guests of the department. The Registered Dietitian provide ongoing support to help patients receive adequate nutrition during inpatient admission. Participates as a member of the Patient Room Service, Food Service
Leadership, and Clinical Nutrition Services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides alternatives to menu as allowed on prescribed diet in accordance with food allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences, when patient inquires or needs additional selections.
  • Interacts with Clinical Nutrition Services and evaluates patient meal selection, tray completion, tray delivery and tray retrieval process. Coordinates with Clinical Nutrition Service to identify patients with specific nutrition and food related issues.
  • Assists with quality improvement, sanitation, infection control and all foodservice related activities.
  • Works in conjunction with Culinary Team throughout menu and recipe development to include data entry and menu analysis.
  • Operates in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Delegates, manages, and organizes projects and establishes priorities consistent with foodservice's goals and St. Jude strategic plan.
  • Ensures that the food offered to the client, customers, and employees of the operation is of superior quality.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with employees, guests, and clients as well as other departments within the institution.
  • Promotes the professional growth and development of the entire food service team.
  • Plans, markets, and executes special events/promotions.
  • Assist food services with the maintenance of the computrition software system.
  • Administrates and maintains the systems required for food and nutrition management to include training users as required. Providing weekly and monthly reports on time as assigned.
  • Collaborates with Food Service leadership to develop guidelines for menu item creation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Master's degree in nutrition or related field required.
  • Completion of an ACEND approved dietetic internship required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of food service experience required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

  • (LC:LDN-TN) Licensure by the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required within six (6) months of hire.
  • (LC: CDRAND-RD) Registered as a Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required within six (6) months of hire.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

  • Food Service Manager Certification or equivalent ANSI approved certificate required within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS ) required.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Ability to calculate volume and nutrient content of parenteral and enteral fluids.
  • Ability to interact with patients, families and coworkers in a cordial and friendly manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and coworkers verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal calmly and effectively with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to record information in the medical record clearly, concisely and according to generally accepted standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and skill to operate a computer and word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Knowledge and skill to operate a Lange caliper.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $54,080 - $94,640 per year for the role of Dietitian.
