Job Description
We're looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This role will be primarily working out of the Target House. The shift is Tuesday through Saturday, from 7am to 3:30 pm.

Under the supervision of an FOM Maintenance Supervisor, the maintenance mechanic maintains, inspects and repairs chilled water, high pressure steam, domestic and heating hot water and medical gas systems, glassware washers, kitchen equipment, and other mechanical equipment/systems such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, variable frequency drives, fans, air handling units, air compressors, etc. May lead, train and assist Maintenance Helpers.
Duties may include operation and maintenance of the hospital's medical infectious waste incinerator, deionized and RO water systems and pneumatic tube systems, making up equipment electrical connections, minor locksmithing, welding and fabrication of metal components, changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, and other duties required to achieve the department's mission.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of a FOM Maintenance Supervisor, maintains, inspects, and repairs domestic and heating hot water, dishwashers, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, and other mechanical equipment/systems such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, variable frequency drives, fans, air handling units, air compressors, etc. May lead, train and assist Maintenance Helpers. Duties may include minor electrical connections, minor locksmithing, minor carpentry and fabrication of metal components, changing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, caulking, painting and wall repair, grounds maintenance, and other duties required to achieve the department's mission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Responds to unscheduled equipment failures and performs emergency shutdown and start-up procedures to ensure continuity of operation.
  • Works independently, with other mechanics, with other crafts, or with contractor personnel to quickly and efficiently perform routine and emergency maintenance procedures in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Uses hand and power tools to fabricate, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical systems. Accurately uses job-related tools and equipment to perform quality work, accurately measures parts and equipment for duplication or fabrication, and troubleshoots mechanical equipment using appropriate analysis methods.
  • Reads and interprets job-related schematics and drawings and manufacturer's operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental administrative and safety policies and procedures
  • May be called upon to perform minor locksmithing duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent education/training desired

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment, residential and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and residential appliances in an apartment building, board, care, or similar facility is required.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY SJCRH ONLY:

  • Valid Driver's License

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $23.50 - $39.00 per hour for the role of Maintenance Mechanic-Target House.
