The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and is located in Byhalia, Mississippi. As a Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible for performing skilled work in one or more of the following areas: preventative maintenance, electrical, painting, plumbing, welding, repair and construction of equipment and structures; resolving emergency situations; ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner and overseeing and supporting assigned preventative maintenance personnel in the performance of their assignments.

Your responsibilities

  • Oversees work of assigned maintenance team employees
  • Addresses minor discipline problems with team members; refers more serious cases to maintenance supervisor
  • Assists with the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new maintenance team members
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed
  • Works with maintenance supervisor to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks
  • Assesses building systems to plan work assignments
  • Collaborates with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegates assignments based on team members skills and experience
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completely safely, effectively, and in a timely manner
  • Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments
  • Inspects work performed by team members
  • Tracks and logs workers time, materials, and other resources used for inventory purposes
  • Works with maintenance supervisor to coordinate topics for safety meetings
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Your background

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • At least 5 years of Maintenance experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to identify issues and to determine repairs that are needed
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed to complete reports, logs, and inventory
  • Must have strong working knowledge of MARC, SAP and other WMS operating systems
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
