Manufacturing Supervisor
3rd shift (10:30pm to 6:30am)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Supervise and monitor floor operations in the manufacturing cell in order to produce quality product in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Assign and manage labor resources; make quality decisions; administer discipline; communicate and enforce safety mission; and resolve all manner of operating problems. Undertakes process improvement projects under the direction of the Just In Time Line Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Evaluate the production area, the schedule and open work, and direct the workforce to the appropriate work places to safely achieve efficient production and quality. Since the JITL has more flexibility and varied function, the coordinator is constantly reviewing and adapting the floor operation as needed to meet evolving priorities.
*Promote a Lean Manufacturing environment in all activities. Abide by / embrace and foster the principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and Quality.
*Make quality decisions with the JITL team and if a quality problem is found take corrective action and initiate preventative measures using appropriate JITL and Creative Resources.
*Constant monitoring of the schedule and the cell work-in process areas to balance workloads, eliminate bottlenecks, and reduce inventory. Retains responsibility for cost, quality, timeliness and safety. Will typically have first-line responsibility / authority for workforce ranging from 20 to 100 hourly Associates. This range may swell for brief periods.
*Work with the Engineering and Maintenance to reduce safety hazards, improve processes, reduce downtime and correct problems
*Develop and/or conduct teambuilding meetings and training for the cell. This requires communication skills (verbal and written), it requires good planning and time management skills to set up the technical cross training.
*Administer discipline as required.
*Attend various meetings and making contributions for developing schedule, reviewing maintenance items, reducing make-readies, continuous improvement and other related manufacturing support topics..
*Participates in Safety awareness, leadership responsibility for implementation, enforcement, and general support of safety policies, programs, and initiatives.
*Provides employee development activities to include, training, performance evaluation, counseling and other activities as needed.
*Will typically lead or otherwise participate in multiple improvement projects throughout any year.
*Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
*Knowledge in employee development, leadership and teambuilding qualities.
*Knowledge in motivating a diverse workforce.
*Knowledge in communications both written and verbal.
*Proficient in workflow management in a manufacturing environment.
*Knowledge of grievance and dispute resolution.
*Knowledge in managing the safety efforts for the flow
*Proficient with various computer software, including but not limited to, MS Excel and MS Word.
* Proficiency with MS Access is a significant plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

*The incumbent will occasionally lift objects up to 40 lbs with assistance as needed. The incumbent will need to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, talk, stoop and kneel. Will also need to use hand and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse and other related office equipment.
*Will stand on concrete floors for long periods.

*There is exposure to dust, heat, oil and noise. The employee will be working in and around production equipment and must do so in a safe manner to avoid injury. *Employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the course of performing this job.
