The IRS is hiring Appeals Officers nationwide!
We are hosting a virtual information session about Appeals Officer positions within the Independent Office of Appeals division.
The mission of the Appeals division is to resolve Federal tax controversies without litigation on a basis which is fair and impartial to both the Government and the taxpayer, promotes a consistent application and interpretation of, and voluntary compliance with, the Federal tax laws, and enhances public confidence in the integrity and efficiency of the Internal Revenue Service.
About the Appeals Officer position:
As an Appeals Officer with the Independent Office of Appeals, you will hold conferences and negotiate issues with taxpayers or their representatives to resolve tax disputes in a fair and impartial manner. Many will involve large cases with multiple complex tax issues with over $10 million dollars in dispute. You will work in a team environment that fosters and promotes effective communication and problem solving to accomplish team goals and objectives.
During this information session, you'll hear from Appeals Officers working in the field and gain a better understanding of the work they do day-to-day. These employees will be explaining the duties and qualifications needed to be eligible for the position. We'll also discuss the application process and how to write an effective federal resume to highlight your experience. There will be a Q&A session for you to ask hiring managers questions about the position.
